Honey Spice Compound Butter is a game changer on cornbread

This simple yet extraordinary compound butter will transform your cornbread from ordinary to exceptional and turn roasted carrots into works of art. Ready in just 5 minutes, this butter keeps beautifully in the freezer for months—though you'll likely find it disappearing much sooner! The secret ingredient is Piment d'Ville, a California-grown version of the prized Basque Espelette pepper that adds the perfect touch of sweet warmth.

    The Magic of Piment d'Ville

Piment d'Ville is a special treasure from Boonville Barn Collective, a woman-owned farm in Northern California's Anderson Valley. This sweet and spicy Basque-style pepper has been featured in The New York Times, Bon Appétit, Sunset, and Cherry Bombe Magazine. What makes it truly special is its perfect balance of flavor—warm and flavorful rather than intensely hot.

Known as "The Third Spice" by Basque chefs who use it as frequently as salt and pepper, Piment d'Ville adds depth and character to any dish it touches. The unique climate of Boonville, with warm days and cool nights, mirrors the terroir of Espelette, France, creating ideal growing conditions for these remarkable peppers.

Each pepper is harvested by hand following organic and sustainable practices on their Renegade-certified seven-acre farm. After five months in the fields, the peppers undergo careful drying, de-stemming, and deseeding before being ground and packaged entirely on the farm.
