Beans are never boring when you add a little flavor to the pot!  We always have 3 things in every pot of beans: Salt (never forget the salt), a cinnamon tree leaf, and Kombu. Kombu is the secret weapon of chefs that makes beans more flavorful and more digestible thanks to the natural glutamates and enzymes.  Experiment with Cinnamon Tree Leaves instead of Bay Leaves, Dried Lime for a uniquely Persian flair, Whole Dried Chilis for a kick of heat. Finish with a drizzle of good olive oil and a sprinkle of cedar smoked salt from Native American owned farms or mix it with some delicious mole sauce for instant bean tacos, tamales or enchaladas.
