Maybe our favorite finishing oil EVER. This amazing oil has a hint of spice and complex flavors that bring out the best in fruits and veggies. It's delicious on cucumbers, heavenly on zucchini, and transformative on fresh sliced tomatoes. Clay Oliver is passionate about creating cold pressed artisanal oils from traditional Southern ingredients and his Okra oil has become a hot ingredient with chefs across the country. One taste and you'll know why we're head over heals for Okra Seed Oil.
I love okra (especially "hot pickles" and stir-fried; also in my gumbo) and I really expected to love the oil. Not so much. In salad the flavor was a distraction, and on popcorn it's just too faint.
HI! Sorry you didn't love it. It's not so much for salty applications like popcorn and possibly it didn't pair well with the vinegar or acid you chose for the salad. Try it again just drizzled over fresh garden tomatoes with a sprinkle of salt. The okra seed has a hint of spice that is very unique and it works incredibly well with umami rich foods like tomatoes, mushrooms and eggplant. I also love it drizzled over grilled zucchini and it's great as a drizzle on gazpacho, tomato soup, mushroom soup etc. A little goes a very long way and it's definitely for finishing.
