  • Organic Hutterite Soup Beans

If you love luxuriously creamy beans these are the beans for you! Hutterites are  beloved soup beans with a delectable buttery flavor and creamy texture that makes them a favorite. Our Organic Hutterite beans are grown, harvested and packed by our friends at Fifth Crow Farms in Pescadero, California.

Hutterite Soup Beans came to the U.S. from Russia via Austria in the 1870s with the Hutterites, a pacifist and communal Christian group who migrated to escape religious persecution and settled in the Dakotas. They have tender skins but firm enough to hold up well to long cooking, making them ideal for soups.

    good soup!!

I made the recipe for the Hutterite bean and wild rice soup -I didn't have any kale-but it was still good! Cooking the beans and rice separately ..then adding the rice to the bowl first was a step new to me and it worked very well! - rice will oversaturate itself if left IN the soup. These beans are best cooked and added rather than trying to cook them IN the soup(they won't do well) ...and I found this soup to be better when just cooked rather than left and eaten the next day(like so many others)
