These organically grown midnight black beans are a beautiful true turtle bean with traditional flavor and texture perfect for everything from dips to soup. They have a delicate skin and a dense, meaty texture, giving off a inky black broth that made them a favorite for centuries of cooking in the Southwest. It was widely grown in the US starting in the 1800s however this delicious bean made its way into Cuban and Indian cooking as well. Now the turtle bean is so ubiquitous it's often just called "black beans."
These are grown on a small family farm in Northern California using good organic practices and shipped directly to us.
